TikTok Whipped Coffee

If you have a TikTok account, or even if you don’t, you’ve probably seen the trend on whipped iced coffee. Essentially it is iced coffee that is whipped so it turns into a frothy mousse like substance. Have you given it a try yet?

I’ve seen it done a couple of different ways and I’ve even tried a few of these. If you’re going to try this whipped coffee then you should be aware that it is not going to be anything like your regular coffee. It’s strong. The sugar helps a bit but trust me you’ll need most of your glass to be milk and ice. I chose to use almond milk but any kind, or even creamer, works.

Also, you should know that this can't be made ahead of time and served later. The whipped part won’t hold so once you make it it needs to be served immediately. Although there are a few different recipes out there here’s the one that I found to be most effective.

What you’ll need:

  1. Instant Coffee

  2. Water

  3. Sugar

  4. Mixer or whisk

  5. Small bowl

  6. Ice

  7. Milk or creamer

STEPS:

(this makes one serving)

  1. First get out a small bowl and add 2 tablespoons of instant coffee

  2. Add in 2 tablespoons of hot water

  3. Add in 2 tablespoons of white sugar

  4. Use your hand mixer with only one beater attached to whip for approximately 5-7 minutes*

  5. Once coffee is whipped to desired consistency add it to a glass with ice and milk. The whipped coffee will sit nicely on top.

*Using a hand mixer is by far the most effective method. Unfortunately it will take you over 5 minutes to achieve the desired whipped and frothy consistency if you use a mixed. If you don’t have an electric mixer and you are using a whisk get ready for an arm workout. I tried it with a whisk and I was whipping for over 10 minutes before I began to see any kind of whipping occurring. After the 10 minute mark I got tired and gave up. Just use a mixer.

Although this coffee might not actually taste great it still looks pretty cool. Personally, I wasn’t a huge fan. It was too strong for me but I think if I do make it again I’ll drizzle some caramel or chocolate sauce on top of the coffee to make it a bit sweeter. Good luck and let me know how it goes!
